About

Built on material expertise.
Run by people who give a damn.

We're a Midwest-based resin distributor and custom compounder. We've been doing this for over fifteen years — long enough to have a point of view, short enough to still pick up the phone.

Our Story

Founded to fill a gap nobody was filling.

Poly Evolution was founded in 2008 by a materials engineer and a distribution veteran who kept running into the same problem: their customers were stuck between national distributors who didn't know their name and local shops that couldn't source specialty grades.

The national distributors had the catalog depth but treated mid-market manufacturers as low-priority accounts. The local shops had the relationships but topped out at commodity resins. Neither could compound. Neither had real technical depth. And neither was set up to solve the material problems that actually slow programs down.

We built Poly Evolution to be the thing in between — a distributor with engineering depth, a compounder with distribution reach, and a team that treats every account like it matters. Because it does.

Sixteen years in, we supply materials to manufacturers across 23 states, stock 350+ grades in our Midwest warehouse, and run custom compounding engagements for everything from automotive Tier 1 programs to medical device startups trying to qualify their first FDA-compliant grade.

We're still privately owned. We still answer the phone. And we still think the best material for your application is the one that makes your part work — not the one with the best margin for us.

Key Milestones
2008
Founded in Chicago, IL by two industry veterans. First warehouse: 8,000 sq ft, 40 grades in stock.
2012
Compounding operation launched. Added twin-screw extruder capacity. First custom compound for a Tier 1 automotive customer.
2016
Warehouse expansion to 45,000 sq ft. Crossed 150 stocked grades and $10M in annual revenue.
2019
Client portal launched. Online account management, order history, and documentation for all customers.
2023
350+ grades stocked. Expanded to medical-grade and high-performance polymer categories. Technical consulting formally offered as a service.
The Team

Materials people. Not sales people.

Everyone on our team has a technical background. Your account contact can answer a processing question, not just look up a price. That's by design.

What We Believe

Four things we refuse to compromise on.

These aren't values we invented for the website. They're how we've made decisions since 2008 — and why we still have customers from our first year in business.

01
Technical honesty over comfortable answers
If the material you asked for won't work for your application, we'll tell you — and tell you what will. We'd rather lose a sale than supply something that fails in the field.
02
Lead times are promises, not estimates
When we give you a delivery date, we mean it. If something changes, you hear from us before the shipment misses — not after. We've built our logistics operation around this commitment.
03
Size of order doesn't determine quality of service
A 25-lb sample order and a 40,000-lb truckload get the same response time and the same technical attention. The sample is often how we earn the truckload, and we know it.
04
Private, independent, and accountable
We're not owned by a holding company with a quarterly number to hit. We're accountable to our customers and our team — which means we make decisions that are right for the relationship, not the quarter.
Work with us

Start with a conversation about what you're building.

We're not going to put you through a sales process. Tell us what you need, and we'll tell you honestly whether we can help and how.
